Valdes returns to the 2020 Junior Invitational after finishing second in the 2019 Billy Horschel Junior Championship presented by Zurich. In 2018, Valdes won the Florida Junior Tour at Fairwinds G.C. and the Florida Junior Tour Championship in the boys 16-18 field. He came in seventh at the 2018 AJGA Rolex Tournament of Champions and second at the 2018 AJGA Jr. All-Star Invitational at Reynolds Lake Oconee. The 2021 graduate has committed to Auburn University.
